Why we are hiring

Amanaut is a Japanese company whose main work is SEO and LLMO (AI search) consulting. Nihongo Search is our English publication for companies that want to be found in Japan: how people here search, how media and PR work, and what tends to get lost in translation.

Our team is in Japan and checks the facts about Japan. What we need is someone who reads English as a first language and can tell where a sentence sounds off to a reader in the US, the UK or elsewhere. Each article you review will carry a “Reviewed by” credit with your name.

Who this suits

Each piece is a light edit, not a rewrite.

  • Editors and proofreaders who want small, occasional pieces of work alongside their main job
  • People who notice when a sentence is correct but unnatural, and can say why in a short comment
  • People curious about how the web and media work in Japan

Your profile on our team page

We would like to introduce you on our team page with your photo, name, role and a short bio, and link each “Reviewed by” credit to it. A named editor gives readers someone who stands behind the text, and it gives you a public record of the work.

Your first name only is fine. If you would rather not appear on the team page, tell us when you apply.

Before you apply

Pay is per piece, so a long or messy article lowers your hourly rate. If a piece needs more than a light edit, tell us. We would rather fix it on our side than have you rewrite it.

Some wording stays for search reasons, such as the exact phrase people type into Google. When we keep a phrase you suggested changing, we will tell you why. Copyright in the edited text belongs to Amanaut.

How to apply

Please use the form below and include links to one to three pieces you have written or edited. Our privacy policy for applicants is in Japanese. We aim to reply by email within a week.
